The Scottish Civil Justice Council (SCJC) is seeking to fill vacancies for a solicitor and a consumer representative member.

The SCJC was established in May 2013 and replaced the previous Court of Session and sheriff court rules councils. In addition to preparing rules for the Scottish civil courts, it provides advice and recommendations to the Lord President and the Scottish Ministers on the future development of the Scottish civil justice system. Appointed members will hold office for three years. See the SCJC website for information about the Council’s functions and powers and details on current membership.

The Lord President, The Right Hon Lord Pentland, Chair of the Council, said:

“This is an important time in the development of the civil justice system as it explores the opportunities available to enhance the fairness, accessibility and efficiency of civil justice in Scotland. It is vital that the Council continues to have the necessary expertise to take such developments forward. I would encourage anyone with the right experience and knowledge to apply.”
