The Hon. Lord Weir
Lord Weir was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Courts in April 2020, having sat as a temporary judge of the High Court from 2017.
A graduate of Durham and Dundee universities, he became an advocate in 1995. He built up a civil practice and served as an advocate depute from 2005 – 2008, before being appointed as a Queen’s Counsel in 2010.In 2015, he became a sheriff, initially floating in South Strathclyde, and was appointed as a resident sheriff in Edinburgh in 2018, where he sat as one of the specialist sheriffs in the All Scotland Personal Injury Court.
