A new advocate member, Lynda Brabender, has been appointed to the Council for a three year term.
Lynda has been a member of the Faculty of Advocates (the Faculty) since 2005 and specialises in Family and Child Law, and Public Law relating to children. She is a member of the Faculty Disciplinary Tribunals and was a member of the Faculty Council from 2010 to 2013.
She is also a member of the committee of the Advocates’ Family Law Association and the Faculty representative on the Scottish Government working group on bar reporters and, from 2005 to 2010, a Convener of the Additional Support Needs Tribunal for Scotland.
Lynda’s experience in family law led to her being appointed a member of the Council’s Family Law Committee in November 2013. She will continue to serve on that Committee during her term as an advocate member of the Council.
Chair of the Council, Lord Carloway, the Lord President, said: “Lynda brings a wealth of expertise to the Council, especially in relation to family law which will prove useful to our work.
“I welcome her to the Council and am delighted that she will be able to start contributing to our work programme so quickly by joining our meeting to be held on 3 October.”
Lynda was appointed by the Lord President following an open and competitive recruitment exercise and in consultation with the Faculty of Advocates.
Further information is available on Lynda’s work as an advocate.
