The Council is conducting a Winter Tour throughout November and December for court users and staff to explain more about the court reform rules recently put in place and upcoming changes.
The informal, one-hour sessions will also offer the chance to learn more about the Council’s functions and provide feedback on its work.
The events will cover:
- a background to changes to court rules arising from the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014
- an outline of rules already made by the Council
- the new drafting approach.
There will also be a discussion on rules still to come with a focus on simple procedure, and the civil Sheriff Appeal Court.
The rules already made as a consequence of the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014 are in relation to:
- judicial review procedure
- exclusive competence
- all-Scotland personal injury court
- transfer and remit of cases
- permission to appeal to the UK Supreme Court.
