Winter Tour

Oct 12, 2015

The Council is conducting a Winter Tour throughout November and December for court users and staff to explain more about the court reform rules recently put in place and upcoming changes.

The informal, one-hour sessions will also offer the chance to learn more about the Council’s functions and provide feedback on its work.

The events will cover:

  • a background to changes to court rules arising from the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014
  • an outline of rules already made by the Council
  • new rules
  • the new drafting approach.

There will also be a discussion on rules still to come with a focus on simple procedure, and the civil Sheriff Appeal Court.

The rules already made as a consequence of the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014 are in relation to:

  • judicial review procedure
  • exclusive competence
  • all-Scotland personal injury court
  • transfer and remit of cases
  • permission to appeal to the UK Supreme Court.
